MAY BOOK OF THE MONTH: AYTI

Updated: Jun 24, 2019

In celebration of Haitian Heritage Month 🇭🇹 this month, The Black & Project is reading Ayti by Roxane Gay. Ayti is a collection of short stories set in and focused on Haiti. Gay rose to popularity following the publication of her New York Times best selling essay collection, “Bad Feminist” but made her literary debut with “An Untamed State”, her 2014 novel centered on the kidnapping of a young Haitian American woman. An outspoken Haitian American bisexual feminist herself, Gay’s works often focus on identity.
